Can you tell me how to make an animation in
Flux Studio?
OK, someone asked me how to do animations and such with
Flux Studio while I was Chatting at Cybertown. What follows it the conversation we had, and yes in the
end Mac_10 did get his avatar to wave it's arm in a hello gesture. You may think this
is a lot to read, but let me tell you, it is much faster to read a chat log than it is to
write one.

animation "node"
Mac_10 [840] : I clicked on the clock and double clicked the arm

Mac_10 [840] : tree window?
Mac_10 [840] : where's that?
[City Architect] MrPhillip [2898] : now you need to double click on the scene
tree. If you do not see it

case

movement, not a word.

Mac_10 [840] : so is my guy going to wave now?

his arm?

Mac_10 [840] : just click on his arm and move it up and then back down?

(has a list of parts in it)

Mac_10 [840] : so what do I do then?
[City Architect] MrPhillip [2898] : OK, in the animation tab, click Add Node,
then click on your arm

[City Architect] MrPhillip [2898] : OK this adds something that we will move

[City Architect] MrPhillip [2898] : did you see it get added to the list?
Mac_10 [840] : now it says cylinder in the node list

[City Architect] MrPhillip [2898] : OK, great. Step 2...

[City Architect] MrPhillip [2898] : over to the left hit INSERT AFTER

[City Architect] MrPhillip [2898] : now on that scale thing you see 0.0 .5 and
1.0 right?
Mac_10 [840] : now all these numbers and things appear
Mac_10 [840] : under fraction?

[City Architect] MrPhillip [2898] : OK so just up a little see a check box that
says, EDIT ANIMATION KEYS, check it

[City Architect] MrPhillip [2898] : OK also, hit the black up arrow button on
the same window
[City Architect] MrPhillip [2898] : that puts you at 0.5 time
Mac_10 [840] : It already was
[City Architect] MrPhillip [2898] : OK. NOW, you can click on the rotation tab
Mac_10 [840] : okay I did
Mac_10 [840] : now what?
[City Architect] MrPhillip [2898] : you can either type in numbers or you can
drag the part in the 3d window
Mac_10 [840] : drag the part
Mac_10 [840] : so I just drags it up[ and then drag it back down?
[City Architect] MrPhillip [2898] : or better hit +X in the rotate 90 box
[City Architect] MrPhillip [2898] : just up only

[City Architect] MrPhillip [2898] : OK did you get it up there like a wave?
Mac_10 [840] : and then just let it go?
[City Architect] MrPhillip [2898] : your arm should be up in the air.

see it move

manually later

time we tried this, so I am glad we could get it going tonight

Mac_10 [840] : after I click next from filling all of that stuff out like
www.fortunecity.com and my user name and password

[City Architect] MrPhillip [2898] : or sound files, but you do not have them
(yet)
[City Architect] MrPhillip [2898] : so hit finish
Mac_10 [840] : it just said a connection with the server could not finish
[City Architect] MrPhillip [2898] : well either you missed the id/pw or your web
server is having problems

Mac_10 [840] : I really have to go

to fortune city.
